SAN FRANCISCO – One of my favorite books is “Smile” by Raina Telgemeier. I really recommend this book.

The story’s about a girl named Raina Telgemeier and she knocked out her 2 front teeth after a Girls Scouts meeting. She faces headgear, on and off-again braces, and a retainer!

She also deals with the famous 1989 World Series earthquake, friend who turn out to be not so friendly, and much more. In P.E, she found a new group of friends, who like Raina for her, not her teeth.

When she takes off her braces, she thinks her teeth are misshappen, but her friends think she looks great!

She feels great, too, after realizing she was just over thinking things. She changed into a sixth grader to a sophmore.

She used to be insecure, but she then found out her artistic voice, finds what true friendship really means, and where she can finally … smile!
