Blood Drive Is Coming Up!

It carries carbon dioxide produced during metabolism is carried back to the lungs. It provides the cells with nutrients, transports hormones and removes waste products, which the liver, the kidneys or the intestine, for example, then get rid of. This is crucial for the body, and makes up 7% of our body’s weight. This, is the blood, the basis for tasks in the human body, yet people in the world are lacking this fluid.

Accoring to, more than 4.5 million patients need blood transfusions each year in the US and Canada. About one in seven people entering the hospital needs blood. Someone needs blood every 2 seconds. The most common blood type is O+ and most likely to be donated. Blood transfusions are a critical part of everyday. People die due to the lack of blood after injuries. However, this can be changed.

There is hope, that no one has to suffer due to the lack of blood. The Blood Drive is an event where a person goes to donate blood for the need. Only 37% of the US population is eligible to donate blood, but only less than 10% do donate. Do not be one of the people, who choose not to donate blood. The world is in a dire need for blood to save lives. 43,000 pints (5375 gallons/20347 litres) of donated blood is used in the United States and Canada alone, and one pint of blood saves 3 lives (according to Participate in local blood drives, and be generous and donate blood for the needy.

Our school is happy to announce, that a Blood Drive is being hosted in the PS 83 Annex, which is in 1840 Bogart Avenue, Bronx, NY 10462. The blood drive will take place on March 14th, 2018 from 2:30pm to 7pm. Check for eligibility and come forth, and donate blood, because, you, are taking part in the cause, and donating to save lives, with our commnunity!
